Courmayeur is a mountain resort in the Italian valley of Aosta near the French border, famous for both skiing and climbing. Unlike many ski destinations, Courmayeur has maintained the traditional charm of its historic buildings and picturesque stone-cobbled promenade. The town is full of lively restaurants and bars, as well as great shops. The French resort of Chamonix is just over the border and can be reached with a scenic cable car ride.
